We start this semester with Lacan's "Seminar on Ethics". Thinking through our most recent discussions, we thought the best plan was to give ourselves time to read this with some care and therefore to start at the beginning. For the first meeting we will concentrate on Chapters 1-3. As a parallel text we suggest Alisdair MacIntyre's "After Virtue", also Chapters 1-3 copies of which are available from the Institute of English Studies, Birkbeck History Department and Queen Mary English Department.

Convenors:Daniel Pick, Jacqueline Rose (Birkbeck College).
